Sony’s 25 new PS5 games are in the works

Sony is creating 25 new PlayStation 5 games that are set to release under the PlayStation Studios banner. PlayStation Studio lead Herman Hulst told Wired that a great majority of them will be entirely new content.

The buzzing titles that Sony is coming up with are Horizon Forbidden West, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, God of War: Ragnarok, and Gran Turismog which may launch in 2021 and 2022.

While there is no information on the date of their release, these games will indeed make a huge mark in the gaming space.

Thead of global marketing at Sony Interactive Entertainment, Eric Lempel, clarified in an interview given to GamesIndustry.biz that the branding “doesn’t mean that we outright own the developer, but it just means we brought it up as a first-party. In a lot of cases we don’t own the developer.”

There are indie games from studios that have joined forces with Sony including Kena: Bridge of Spirits and a game from Haven Studios. There is no update on whether these titles are a part of the 25 plus games Sony is developing.

Whilst Hulst has shared that some of the games are small and will take shorter development time, the games will not release anytime soon. Since a good number of these games will not be a part of existing franchises, the process of bringing these games to the market will take much longer than usual.

The good news is that these games are not going to be PS5-specific and Sony has said that bringing these games to the PC in the future is definitely on the cards.
