EyeQube delivers around 400 VFX shots for SRK’s Ra.One.

Mumbai based Eyeqube studio has delivered 400 odd VFX shots for the recently released Shahrukh Khan starrer Ra.One. The film with heavy VFX work was outsourced to Eyeqube. Around 40-45 artists from Eyeqube worked on the film and completed their share of shots in 6 months time. Primarily the studio worked on CG Backround, set extensions and matte paints under the creative supervision of Charles Darby – Creative Director.

Talking to AnimationXpress.com Sachin Bole, VFX Supervisor, Eyeqube shares, “We had to create this very realistic panoramic view of Level 1 which should look photo real. Redchillies shot the scene against the green background so level 1 required lot of set extensions that we had to do. So the biggest challenge was merging our CG generated set with Live Action set seamlessly so that it could look as real and believable as possible.”

“And the second challenge we faced was in level 3 wherein we had to create a total destructed city with wasted land, smoke evaporating from buildings, broken stuffs. It was like a carnage, a total devastated city we had to create which also had to look believable so that was another challenge we faced”, Sachin added.

Vamsi Ayyagari, Chief Operation Officer, EyeQube Studios, proudly says, “It was a fantastic experience working on Ra.One, as we had to recreate entire futuristic yet believable environments for two different sequences (Level One and Level Three). The concepts were driven by imagination but the work had to be convincingly real. It was great to have played an important role in the movie that has raised the bar of VFX in India. It was also a very collaborative process and we enjoyed working very closely with the lead VFX house”.

For the project Eyeqube used software likes Maya, Nuke and Max for creating fires and all in level 3.

Eyeqube is currently working on Desi Boyz, and they have also got Kunal Kohli’s next starring Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra. Apart from that they worked on Dam999 and completed the work on Tron Legacy for Digital Domain which again was an outsourced work. And they are looking forward to start the work on Rajnikant and Deepika Padukone starrer Rana.

The team that worked on Ra.One alongwith Sachin includes, Manish Dembla- VFX Producer, Chandrashekhar Thanvi- CG Supervisor, Soumyadeep Chakraborty- Compositing Supervisor, Narendra Soni – Matte Paint Lead and the matte paints were projected by Prashant Shahne.
