Another Disney character and one of its earliest animated movies Dumbo is all set to be remade into a live action movie. To be helmed by acclaimed director Tim Burton, this will be anther animation to live action conversion apart from Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Alice in Wonderland, which was ironically also directed by Tim.

Wall Street Journal quotes Walt Disney Pictures president of production Sean Bailey as confirming the news and stating that ‘it’s a big world’. The screenplay will reportedly be written by Ehren Kruger.

The original Dumbo was released in 1941 about a baby elephant who could fly using his ears as wings.

Tim has not only worked on such a movie earlier, but has also dealt in the field of animation itself as his first career choice. He attended the California Institute of the Arts to study character animation. After graduating, he directed worked with Walt Disney as an animator, storyboard artist and concept artist on films like Tron and The Fox and the Hound.

The films that he has directed include Edward Scissorhands, Batman, Batman Returns, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Planet of the Apes.

Other remakes that are in the pipeline are The Jungle Book for 2016, Beauty and the Beast in 2017 and Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass. Earlier ones include 101 Dalmations.

Given Tim’s long stint in animation as well as live action as well as a successful remake of Alice in Wonderland, one can place big bets on the remake of this lovable elephant.
