VEC ties up with FICCI, forms FICCI-VEC

Being planned by well known VFX producer Madhusudhanan for quite some while now, VEC (Visual Effects Community) is finally getting into shape. VEC has tied up with FICCI and shall be known as FICCI – VEC now. FICCI’s Sumeet Gupta who is incharge of the BAF awards has been appointed as Officer in Charge of the new community aimed at fostering collaboration amongst VFX artists and professionals.

Speaking to Animation ‘xpress, Sumeet Gupta said that,”In alignment with FICCI’s objective to take entertainment to new horizons, we have instituted FICCI- Visual Effects Community (FICCI – VEC) – a specialized wing of FICCI that will not only focus on the application of Visual effects in the world of entertainment but also be the apex institution and the single point referral for anyone who is a part of this industry”

FICCI Visual Effects Community Goals –

” To promote continuous public and business awareness about the visual effects industry;

” To support technology research and development;

” To design and implement educational and training programs;

” To establish an Awards for acknowledging creativity in the industry and,

” To address any other issues deemed important by its members.

“The FICCI VEC will consist of members focused entirely on discipline related to the visual effects industry. The society by organising convention and seminars, would discuss the problems related to the industry and help in forming a meaningful solution. It would conduct development programmes to bring out the best of visual effects being produced in the world” added Gupta.

“FICCI VEC will try to affiliate itself with the Visual Effects Society (VES), Los Angeles. FICCI VEC will also invite prominent international experts and organizations to be its Members” he concluded.

While the officer in charge mantle is being donned by FICCI’s Sumeet Gupta, Madhusudhanan has been appointed as the first chairman of the FICCI – Visual Effects Society.
