Submarine Sequence

The hallmark of good biography is accuracy. Similarly the ultimate goal for CG creators is to make it look real. So when a biopic made by Shyam Benegal involves CG created by Visual Computing Labs, the synergy is perfect.

While making his biopic on Netaji entitled Bose…The Forgotten Hero, Benegal had to feature Bose’s underwater travel from Germany to Japan aboard a u-boat. The submarines used in World War II had long been deployed and shooting the voyage in live action was not possible.

Led by Creative Director Pankaj Khandpur, the team at Visual Computing Labs met Benegal’s challenge of creating a realistic submarine sequence for Bose…. The sequences include depth charge and torpedo attacks on the submarine, as well as the blowing up of a British merchant ship by the Germans.

Animation ‘xpress is proud to present a case study on VCL’s CG and VFX work for Shyam Benegal’s Bose The Forgotten Hero.
