‘Thunder 3’ anime takes the fight to Shibuya in mid-season trailer

Thunder 3 | Mid-Season Trailer | Netflix Anime

Aliens, chaos and a battle for Shibuya: Thunder 3 is turning up the voltage. Ahead of episode seven’s broadcast in Japan, the anime has dropped a new mid-season trailer, offering a fresh glimpse at its sci-fi guerrilla warfare against alien invaders in the heart of Tokyo.

The trailer pushes the action into Shibuya, raising the stakes as the series’ young heroes find themselves caught in a fight that is anything but small.

At animation studio Unend, Hiroyuki Seshita serves as chief director, with Keisuke Ide directing and Shin Sugai and Ryunari as assistant directors. Hiroshi Seko handles series composition and scripts, while Frederic Chateau and Akinori Tateyama provide the music.

The anime adapts Yuki Ikeda’s Thunder 3 manga, which ran in Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Magazine from May 2022 to June 2026, spanning nine volumes. Kodansha USA publishes the English edition.

The story follows middle-schooler Pyontaro and his friends, the so-called small three, whose ordinary lives go decidedly off-script after they watch a mysterious disc borrowed from their teacher. The disc is connected to another universe, and before long, Pyontaro’s younger sister Futaba is pulled into it.

Now, finding Futaba means crossing into a strange new world and facing whatever is waiting on the other side. With Shibuya now in the firing line, Thunder 3 is proving that when aliens come knocking, the small three are more than ready to bring the thunder.
