The makers of the upcoming Street Fighter film have released a new poster ahead of its Imax release on 16 October 2026, featuring lead actor Andrew Koji as Ryu charging up a hadoken.
Produced by Legendary Entertainment and Capcom, and distributed by Paramount Pictures, the film marks the first release under Legendary’s new global distribution deal with the studio. Behind the camera is director Kitao Sakurai, best known for the 2021 film Bad Trip and his work on The Eric Andre Show and Twisted Metal.
The story is set in 1993, the same year Street Fighter II took over arcades across the world. Estranged fighters Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo) find themselves thrown back into combat when the mysterious Chun-Li (Callina Liang) recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament, a bruising showdown of fists, fate and fury. Beneath the spectacle lurks a deadly conspiracy, one that pits the two former friends against each other and against the demons of their own past. Lose, and it is, quite literally, game over.
Sakurai has promised to carry the arcade spirit straight onto the big screen, hadokens, roundhouses and all, with the full roster of fan-favourite characters along for the ride.
Leading the charge is Andrew Koji as Ryu, alongside Noah Centineo as Ken Masters and Callina Liang as Chun-Li. The supporting cast reads like a greatest-hits list for the franchise: Jason Momoa takes on Blanka, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson plays Balrog, and David Dastmalchian steps into the role of M. Bison. Cody Rhodes appears as Guile, Joe “Roman Reigns” Anoa’i as Akuma, and Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim. Rounding out the roster are Olivier Richters as Zangief, Orville Peck as Vega, Hirooki Goto as E. Honda, Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki, Eric André as Don Sauvage, Mel Jarnson as Cammy, Rayna Vallandingham as Juli and Alexander Volkanovski as Joe.
With a cast this stacked and a release date now locked in, Street Fighter looks set to land a proper haymaker at the box office this October.
