Roblox creators level up India’s economy with Rs 123.9 crore GDP boost

India’s Roblox creators are turning play into pay and making a real-world economic impact. Their activity on the gaming platform contributed an estimated Rs 123.9 crore (US$ 14.8 million) to India’s GDP between 2020 and 2025, according to a report by consultancy access partnership.

The report, prepared for Roblox, estimates that the contribution grew at an annual rate of 77 per cent over the five-year period. The economic activity also supported an estimated 510 jobs across the Indian economy in 2025.

The creator economy is gaining momentum, too. More than 250 Indian creators qualified for Roblox payouts in 2025, while total payouts to eligible creators grew at an annual rate of 72 per cent between 2020 and 2025.

And these creators are not playing to a home crowd alone. International users accounted for an average of 55 per cent of revenue among surveyed Indian creators, with the US, UK and Japan emerging as their leading overseas markets. Meanwhile, 92 per cent of surveyed creators said Roblox helped their games reach international users.

The opportunity extends beyond earnings. Some 94 per cent of surveyed creators said they could build games on Roblox with minimal prior experience, pointing to the platform’s role in lowering the barriers to game development.

For India’s gaming talent, the message is clear: the game is no longer just about playing, it is about creating, earning and taking home-grown ideas to the world.
