La Cabane and Thuristar have announced two new partnerships with Miyu Distribution and Les Films du Préau, for the theatrical and festival distribution of the 30-minute special The Wolf’s Dinner (formerly A Lamb’s Stew) written and directed by Joeri Christiaen.
Les Films du Préau will take charge of distributing the special in theatres in France and in French-speaking Belgium, Luxembourg and Switzerland. Miyu Distribution will take care of theatrical distribution in the rest of the world, as well as festival distribution worldwide.
“I am delighted to be working once again with Les Films du Préau and Miyu Distribution, who did a brilliant job in the same roles on Britt Raes’ short film Luce and the Rock, which continues to enjoy success in theatres, in sales and at festivals to this day,” said La Cabane co-founder and film’s producer Perrine Gauthier.
“We are delighted to again be working with La Cabane and to offer cinema-goers the chance to discover this modern fable, which brilliantly turns the myth of the big bad wolf upside down,” added Les Films du Préau founder and CEO Emmanuelle Chevalier.
“I was fortunate enough to work on Joeri Christiaen’s first series right at the start of my career, and it is with great pleasure that we’ll put all of Miyu Distribution’s resources behind this new project of his”, said Miyu Distribution co-founder and president Luce Grosjean.
Several other partners have already confirmed their commitment toThe Wolf’s Dinner, including, which will ensure the international distribution of the programme’s audiovisual rights, and several major broadcaster: Canal+ (France), VRT-Ketnet and RTBF (Belgium), ZDF (Germany), RTS (Switzerland) and TV5 Monde (France). The Wolf’s Dinner received support from the Media Creative Europe programme, the CNC, the Flanders Audiovisual Fund (VAF), the Région Sud Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, Procirep and Angoa.
Synopsis: Determined to prove that sheep can be just as brave as any other animal, a young lamb named Billie decides to confront the mysterious wolf lurking nearby. She sets out to lure him into a trap, embarking on an adventure that will challenge everything her clan thought they knew. Behind the terrifying image everyone has built of the wolf, lies a very different reality. Through Billie’s journey, the film explores how prejudice, inherited stories, and collective fears shape the way we see the world, and those who are different from us.
This Special is an original creation produced using the open-source software Blender. Christiaen, who is also the film’s art director and writer, worked in collaboration with Claire Paoletti (Shooom’s Odyssey, The Little Run) as writing consultant during development, and Julia Smuts Louw (Star Wars: Visions- Aau’s Song and The Smeds and the Smoos) as script editor for the final screenplay.
In the English-language version, Andy Serkis (The Lord of the Rings, Planet of the Apes), T’Nia Miller (Sex Education, Years and Years) and young Iris Onyejiuwa will be playing the lead roles. The French-language cast will be announced in the fall.
