‘Mafia III’ release date announced with a brutally beautiful story trailer

Since the first edition of Mafia was released in 2002, the game has gathered myriad amount of fans on PC, Xbox and Playstation alike.

The third instalment of the third person shooter game was officially teased by 2K in 2015 and since then the loyalists of the game have been waiting eagerly for more information and later the game was officially revealed at Gamescom 2015.

Now, Hangar 13 and 2K Games have revealed the release date and a new trailer named “One Way Road”, providing a better insight to the storyline and gameplay of the Mafia III.

The story is set in 1968, New Bordeaux, which is a fictional rendition of New Orleans and revolves around Lincoln Clay, an orphan and a Vietnam War veteran. After returning from the battleground, and having looked for a family as an orphan, he joins an organisation called ‘The Black Mob’. After he survives a lethal attack by the Italian mafia, he is left with all the members of The Black Mob dead. He vows to take revenge for his friends and initiates his own criminal organisation where he’s assisted by three of his allies, Cassandra, Burke, and the previous version’s protagonist, Vito Scaletta.


The game boasts of an open world, which is classically designed in the backdrop of 1968. Buildings, cars, weapons; no detail has been ignored while breathing life into this game’s ambience.

The game is set to release on 7 October, 2016 on Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Standard, limited deluxe and limited collector’s editions of the game are already available on purchase on Amazon. Those who pre-order any edition of Mafia III will be gifted with a Family Kick-Back, which will provide players with three exclusive vehicles and weapons in the game, once it releases.
