The swords are out and the world tour is picking up pace. The upcoming Kagurabachi anime is taking its first 20 minutes on the road, with premiere screenings planned in Johannesburg and Melbourne as part of world tour part two.
Based on Takeru Hokazono’s hit Weekly Shonen Jump manga, Kagurabachi will begin the second leg of its global anime tour in September, following the launch of world tour part one in July. The tour is set to span five continents, with more stops still to come.
The first 20 minutes of episode one will screen at Comic Con Africa in Johannesburg on 27 September and Penny Arcade Expo Australia (PAX Aus) in Melbourne on 11 October. Both events will also feature special panel sessions with anime producer Kenta Suzuki.
The Johannesburg screening will take place at the Johannesburg Expo Centre from 1 pm to 1:30 pm South Africa Standard Time (SAST), while the Melbourne event will run from 10:30 am to 11:30 am Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT) at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The tour began with a world premiere at Anime Expo in Los Angeles in July, followed by screenings at Japan Expo in Paris, AnimagiC in Mannheim, Otakon in Washington, D.C., and Anime NYC in New York.
And the sword is far from sheathed. Details of world tour part three and the final Japan tour stop are expected to be revealed this autumn.
Kagurabachi, which has surpassed four million copies in cumulative circulation, including digital editions, follows Chihiro Rokuhira, a young swordsmith who takes up his father’s enchanted blade after a devastating attack by the mysterious Hishaku organisation.
The anime is being produced by Cypic, with Tetsuya Takeuchi directing and Keigo Sasaki handling character design. Taihi Kimura voices Chihiro, alongside Tomokazu Seki as Kunishige Rokuhira, Katsuyuki Konishi as Togo Shiba, Miku Ito as Hinao and Miyari Nemoto as Char Kyonagi.
The series is scheduled to begin broadcasting and streaming in April 2027 on platforms including Crunchyroll, Muse communication (MUSE) and SMG Holdings. From enchanted blades to international stages, Kagurabachi is sharpening its global edge and the next strike is already on the horizon.
