Google catches Star Wars fever; partners with Disney for apps

The visit to a certain google.com/starwars will see you choose between the Dark Side and the Light Side, personalising your Google account with the Star Wars themes in the wake of promoting the upcoming Star Wars saga The Force Awakens.

The choice between the two sides will see the changes on your Google apps in a range of ways. For example, install the suggested Chrome extension, and each time you open Google Maps to search for the direction to your favourite restaurant or movie theatre TIE fighter will guide you to it. C-3PO can offer you voice guidance in mapping app Waze, where R2-D2 and BB-8 will also be featured. Open a new tab and you get a The Force Awakens image.

That menu screen on the site also offer quick links to all the apps that have features included, which is pretty much the entire Google apps suite.

Fans can post their choice of sides on social media using the hashtag, #ChooseYourSide, which will help to power the indicator on the homepage that shows the balance of the forces and make your win.
