‘Game of Thrones’ VFX supervisor hints at the return of a missing character in the upcoming season

If you are one of those who sorely missed the presence of the dire wolves in the last season, rejoice! Your prayers have been heard, as Game of Thrones VFX supervisor has spilled some beans, about the return of Jon Snow’s dire wolf, Ghost.

With the exception of a fleeting appearance of Arya’s dire wolf in the last season where she reconnects with him, absence of dire wolves has been a long-standing subject of conjecture.

Jon Snow’s dire wolf- Ghost

The Stark dire wolves were introduced to us way back in season one, when each of the Stark children were given a cute little puppy. Since then, the puppies have grown up into enormous wolves that can even devour a horse in no time.

The dire wolves are significant characters that are magically matched up to their owners, meaning they could have a huge impact on the show’s plot. Out of the seven dire wolves, only Ghost (Jon’s Wolf) and Nymeria (Arya’s) are alive in the show.

Even though visual effects supervisor Joe Bauer did not say much about Nymeria, he revealed an interesting bit of information about Ghost.

Bauer said,  “Oh, you’ll see him again. He has a fair amount of screen time in eighth season. He does show up…The dire wolves are tough because you don’t want to get them wrong, so we end up always shooting real wolves and doing a scaling trick with them, but the real wolves only behave in certain ways…I think that has something to do with why the dire wolves are in the show but they’re not maybe as integral as they are in the books.”

It will be exciting to see the dire wolf in jaw-dropping action and amaze us in the next season. Fans are waiting for the season with bated breath. So are we!
