World VFX Day is a global live stream event showcasing the art, craft and innovation of visual effects in filmmaking.
Taking place on 8 December each year, this free event unites filmmakers, the VFX and animation community and fans around the world. This year, the event will be hosted live from Framestore’s London headquarters, for a full day of industry talks, behind-the-scenes insights, and discussions with leading voices in visual storytelling.
The event champions the collaborative artistry behind VFX and animation, recognising the teams and individuals whose work continues to push boundaries in global storytelling.
“Visual effects are instrumental in what we see on screen in bringing extraordinary worlds and characters to life, and in many cases, leading innovation in filmmaking.” said World VFX Day founder Hayley Miller. “World VFX Day is about celebrating the partnership with filmmakers, opening up the process of visual effects and animation for fans and professionals alike, and fostering global conversations about where the industry is headed next. We’re excited to partner with Framestore as our event host this year.”
Past and upcoming speakers and panelists include award-winning supervisors, directors, producers, and creative technologists, on projects across film, episodic, commercial and immersive experiences. The full program lineup of the event, to be held in Framestore, will be announced in November.
World VFX Day is an annual event to celebrate, educate and inspire the industry and beyond through creative and topical showcases and panels. The eighth of December is in honour of the “grandfather of visual effects” filmmaker, Georges Méliès.
Since launching in 2023, World VFX Day has welcomed 450+ studio supporters, 150+ speakers, and over 40,000 viewers. The mission to shine a spotlight on visual effects and animation continues all year round through their meet up series, ‘Connects’ and through speaking at various conferences around the world.
