The 20th Century Studios and Imagine Entertainment’s survival thriller to hit Indian cinemas on 16 October.
There’s no room to breathe when a whale swallows you whole. Austin Abrams is fighting for survival in the new trailer for Whalefall, 20th Century Studios and Imagine Entertainment’s high-stakes thriller, which arrives exclusively in Indian cinemas on 16 October 2026.
In the film, Abrams plays Jay Gardiner, who heads into the waters off California’s Central Coast following the death of his father, played by Josh Brolin. His mission takes a dramatic turn when he is swallowed by a massive sperm whale.
Trapped inside the whale with only an hour of oxygen, Jay must find a way out before time runs out. As the clock ticks, he turns to the lessons his father taught him, discovering that those final lessons could hold the key to survival.
The film stars Abrams, Brolin, Elisabeth Shue, John Ortiz, Jane Levy and Emily Rudd.
Directed by Brian Duffield, Whalefall is based on Daniel Kraus’ acclaimed novel of the same name. Duffield and Kraus have written the screenplay. Grazer, p.g.a. (Producers Guild of America), Duffield, p.g.a., Jeb Brody and Allan Mandelbaum, p.g.a., serve as producers, while Doug Merrifield, Richard Abate and Will Rowbotham are executive producers.
With grief behind him, a whale ahead and oxygen running low, Jay has one shot at making it back to the surface. Whalefall will hit Indian cinemas exclusively on 16 October 2026.
