Universal Studios to launch theme park titled ‘Super Nintendo World’ by 2020

People visiting Universal Studios in Japan would soon be able to enjoy an immersive experience, delving into the world of Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros and other Nintendo franchises. Universal Studios Japan and Nintendo are set to open the very first ‘Super Nintendo World’ before the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which will be a 50 billion yen (around $433 million) development project.

The Park will be built on the already set aside area of Universal Studios Japan as well as taking some share of the parking space, reported Forbes.

Nintendo of America took to twitter to reveal the first look into the project, which seems heavily based on Super Mario and Luigi.

With Nintendo having numerous smash IPs to work with, it can provide a lot of attractions to the visitors. Thus, while the park looks absolutely based on Super Mario, Nintendo will surely add more elements from their other successful IPs.

Last week Nintendo had announced that themed areas like these would soon be added to Universal Studios’ parks in Hollywood, California and Orlando, Florida.

A statement from the company read, “Super Nintendo World will be comprised of expansive and multilevel environments filled with unprecedented, state-of-the-art rides, interactive areas, shops and restaurants, all featuring Nintendo’s most popular characters and games.”

It further states, “Nintendo characters and the worlds they inhabit will be re-created at the highest level of quality through the strong partnership between Mr. Shigeru Miyamoto, Creative Fellow at Nintendo, and Mark Woodbury, President of Universal Creative, renowned for creative and technical excellence.”
