SS Rajamouli ropes in ‘Puli’ VFX supervisor for ‘Baahubali: The Conclusion’; Srinivas Mohan to work on new Shankar project

After all the chaos that director SS Rajamouli created on social media via a tweet that read: “‘Baahubali 3’ is on cards. But the story that’s written for the two parts will not be dragged for the sake of it. This story will conclude with the second part itself (sic)” AnimationXpress.com has exclusively learned that the director has roped in RC Kamalakannan, who very recently was the VFX sup on Vijay’s ‘Puli’, to curate the visual effects of the sequel, or better put ‘The Conclusion’ to the question ‘Why Kattappa killed Baahubali’.

Speaking exclusively to AnimationXpress.com, ace VFX supervisor Srinivas Mohan reveals: “I will not be supervising the VFX for ‘Baahubali: The Conclusion’ because I had some prior contractual agreement with director Shankar, which I need to honour. Although ‘Baahubali’ as a project is very close to my heart and I will always be available for any support whenever the need arises for Rajamouli sir and the team.”

According to earlier reports by TheGraphicSlate.com, 40-50 per cent of the shoot schedule for ‘Baahubali: The Conclusion’ was already completed during the time when ‘The Beginning’ was being done. Also as learnt from earlier conversations with various team members of the ‘Baahubali’ unit, Makuta VFX and Firefly Creative Studios will continue to be the lead VFX outfits for the sequel as well, apart from also having the technology expertise from the chip maker AMD and Raja Koduri working closely to bring the best of technological advancement into the sequel as well.

While ‘Baahubali: The Conclusion’ will release only in the second half of 2016, the remaining parts will be going on floors in the second week of November. Srinivas Mohan was instrumental in bringing together various VFX studios to work collaboratively and create the brilliant visual extravaganza that ‘Baahubali’ went onto become and with him working once again with Shankar, after having worked on ‘Enthiran’ and ‘I’ in the past, we can certainly expect him to take things up a notch in the upcoming project, which is rumoured to be the sequel of ‘Enthiran’ with superstar Rajnikanth reprising his role as the humanoid and Aamir Khan mostly signed on to play the antagonist.

“It is an honour to be back in Director SS Rajamouli’s team. Thanks sir and thanks to Srinivas Mohan to have trusted me, to take further what you achieved in first part. I’m also proud & happy about what I was witnessing at Makuta VFX here. Under Pete Draper and Adel Adili, it has grown leaps and bounds, to be one of the top VFX destination in our country. Together, we will deliver the best, again,” RC Kamalakannan posted on his Facebook wall.
