Samsung delivers more content for Gear VR; launches new app

Samsung which released its virtual reality device Gear VR earlier this month has now released an app supporting the VR. Named ‘Milk VR’ which is similar to Samsung’s music streaming (Milk Radio) and video services (Milk Video), the Milk VR will feature downloadable and streamable content free-of-charge to Gear VR owners.

The marketplace will have content across music and videos, all available for download or streaming directly from the Milk VR app. The content store is launching as a technical preview and Samsung promises to update content on a regular basis, giving early adopters enough music and videos to spend ample time with the device. Categories in the app include Trending, Music, Action, Sports and VR Life.

Gear VR was developed with the help of Facebook’s Oculus to create a mobile-powered virtual-reality headset. The Gear VR intended to provide more to developers and artists looking to test the device, rather than a mainstream consumer device at this stage. The headset requires a Galaxy Note 4, which acts as the source for the device to show its magic. The Gear VR has a removable front cover into which slips in the Note 4 acting as the screen. There is a touchscreen controller on the right and a focus dial on top.
