‘Encanto’, ‘Flee’, ‘Luca’ make way to the Oscar nominations

Nominees for the 94th Academy Awards were announced Tuesday via a livestream by Tracee Ellis Ross and Leslie Jordan. Winners will be announced on 27 March in Los Angeles. The Power of the Dog leads the nominees for the annual Academy Awards. The film scored a total of 12 nominations, including best picture, best director, best actors, best supporting roles. Dune follows with a total of 10 nominations, including best picture.

According to Animation Magazine, five animated features from a list of 26 possible contenders made the cut. This year, the Academy also expanded the Animated Short Film shortlist to 15 titles instead of 10 (out of 82 qualifiers), nominating five films.
