Dhimant Vyas to star in upcoming TASI workshop

The Animation Society of India (TASI) is organizing a workshop conducted by Stop Motion Maestro Dhimant Vyas on Saturday, the 10th of June. The three hour workshop which will be held at Ramnarian Ruia College Matunga, will start at 5.30 pm. Registration fee for the event is Rs.50 for student non-members, Rs.100 for other non-members and is free for TASI members.

At the workshop Dhimant will showcase all the commercials, T.V serials and short films that he has worked on from the beginning of his career till his recent projects. The screening will be followed by a slide show of work in progress and behind the scenes photographs of making of clay models, shooting, illustrations and character designs.

Apart from the screening and slide show there will also be a discussion on Stop Motion in terms of modelling with materials other than clay.

The workshop will be concluded by a question and answer session where the audience will get the chance to interact with Dhimant.

Dhimant has a lot of credible projects to his name and has been invited to work on the ‘Creature Comfort’ series to the Oscar winning Aardman studios. Dhimant’s credits include design for the animated series Tenali Raman, special effects for National award winning Telegu movie Anji, and the title design for the television serial, Jerry Anderson on BBC among others.

TASI secretary, Tony Singh shared with Animation ‘xpress, “The workshop will be entirely in Dhimant’s hands. I’m personally looking forward to getting to know from Dhimant as to how he got a break into Aardman studios and what his role is going to be there. This I feel will be the most exciting part of the workshop.”

TASI has also associated with the British Council to screen the best of British Animation on the 12th, 13th and 14th of June at Juhu Mocha from 12.00 pm. The three day screenings will start with Vaibhav’s Kumaresh’s Horn OK Please on the 12th after which Tony Singh will speak on the animation industry, giving a brief overview of it in terms of the trend in the industry, careers and other related topics.

On the 13th and 14th approximately six to seven short animated films will be shown for duration of 1 and a half hours. There is no registration fee for the event which is open to all.
