FICCI Animation & Gaming seminar in Trivendrum on 12 Dec

The beautiful city of Thiruvananthapuram, in God‘s own country ‘Kerala‘, is all set to host a high profile Animation & Gaming industry conference which is being organised by FICCI (The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry). The event is slated for 12 & 13 December at Taj Green Cove Resort, Kovalam, Trivandrum

This FICCI conference related to animation and gaming comes close on the heels of the recent Animation Film Making session that FICCI organised as part of ATF at Singapore.

The Kerala conference has KINFRA as the main sponsor and day 2 of the FICCI meet includes a visit by the delegates to the Animation and Gaming Special Economic Zone at KINFRA.

Speaking to AnimationXpress.com, Sumeet Gupta, Senior Assistant Director FICCI shared, “The idea, of course is to highlight the promise and potential of Animation, Gaming & Visual Effects. We have some sessions which emphasise on areas like Scripting (Storytelling), Showcasing of Animation work done in India. We are also highlighting on VFX. One of the topics of discussion would be the future for India in terms of Game content development.”

“KINFRA has come out with product specific SEZ for Animation & Gaming. This is the only of its kind in India. We have scheduled a visit to KINFRA facilities on the next day of Seminar. The visit will make industry aware of the benefits that can be availed like Corporate Tax Holiday, Exemption from Custom / Excise duty, 100% FDI, Duty free imports of consumable and raw materials etc.”, added Sumeet.

He further elaborated that,”KINFRA is a Statutory Body of Government of Kerela developing Industrial Parks with all infrastructure facilities through out Kerela for the industrial growth of the State. KINFRA Film & Video Park (KFVP), a premier project of KINFRA has the benefit of being the first infotainment park in India. Ministry of Commerce, Govt. of India has approved a product specific Special Economic Zone in the IT Sector for Animation and Gaming Industry which will make KFVP truly a centre for the development of Animation industry in Kerala”

We are into the final month of 2006 and the heat is still on in the industry. In terms of Animation & Gaming specific events, this year has been a very active one for FICCI with the numerous meets and seminars that FICCI has organised and supported including The Annual FRAMES, sessions at MIPCOM in Cannes and ATF in Singapore as well as complete dedicated conferences being held earlier in Kolkata and now in Thiruvananthapuram.

Commenting on this active and aggresive mode in which FICCI is pushing the Animation and Gaming sector, Sumeet Gupta, one of the key people when it comes to Animation and gaming at FICCI shared, “We are commited to the development of this sector and will keep doing our outmost best to push the industry and you can surely expect the same pace and probably even more in the near future”
