Netflix has announced that a new kids and family original series from Korea, Larva Island, will soon be a part of Netflix Originals. Larva Island is the brainchild of a Korean animation studio TuBAn which is a Seoul-based contents media company. Over the years, Larva animation series has gained great popularity across the globe and will be the first Korean Netflix original animation.

Larva was debuted in 2011 and since then it has appealed to a large audience group of all ages with its humour. The animation show is about two larva characters, Red and Yellow that engages in some delightful fun every time they encounter something. In the show, the conversation between larva characters does not incorporate spoken language. In 2012, Larva has received the Culture Minister’s Award at the Korea Content Award. It was also nominated for the Kid’s Awards for the International Emmy Awards in 2014 and 2016.

“Great stories can travel beyond borders, including great stories from Korea,” said Kids & Family International Originals Director Aram Yacoubian at Netflix. “Larva Island brings back Larva’s beloved characters, Red and Yellow, who, with the help of some new friends, are certain to once again enthrall audiences of all ages in Korea and beyond.”

On Netflix, Larva Island is expected to feature a whole new adventure with new characters joining them on an abandoned island. Earlier, Larva was available on YouTube channel but now it would be exclusively available on Netflix.
