Indian Animation Studios unveil plans for Annecy & Mifa 2014

The World’s largest Animation Film Festival, Annecy that takes place this year from 9th to 14th June, will see a congregation of Indian Animation Studios and Stalwarts participate in the fourth season of Indian Animation Pavilion at MIFA.

AnimationXpress.com caught up with the Indian Animation Studios and Stalwarts to know about their focus for this edition of Annecy.

“Annecy serves as a friendly meeting place between industry professionals for the exchange of ideas, products and services.Had been a part of the festival in 2012 and last year too!

Hats off to Anand and his team for organizing it so effectively! Our company focus is to offer our services in feature film production as well as CG asset building for feature production.”

“SideFX has participated in MIFA earlier and we made some really great business connections. The Indian Animation Pavilion is a brilliant idea of AGM. I am really looking forward to this year’s event.

Annecy has a lot of business significance for SideFX. We made some really great contacts during MIFA two years back and also successfully did business with our contact. Apart from business, the other important aspect I love most is the setting of the event and festival which gives an opportunity to meet some real great producers, directors and artists. This is not the case in other events as the focus in only business.

The animation films in theaters and the late evening shows by the lake are awesome, where we can see various artistic animation done by people around the world. It is such an enriching experience.

Ours is a dedicated animation studio and our clients love us for our 2D animation capabilities.

We will continue to offer our services to various small and large producers and be their partners in production. This year SideFX will also explore probable co-production opportunities such that they are mutually beneficial to both, the producer as well as SideFX”

“This is the first time we will be a part of the Indian Animation Pavilion and we are excited to showcase our work potential including a pilot episode at this global stage. Our previous experience was as a participant in MIPCOM 2011 and 2012 where we were on fact-finding and learning missions and our first breakthrough was when we were nominated as Official Finalist at the Content 360 Pitch MIPCUBE 2013 where we presented an original branded fiction transmedia format on stage.

We believe that the time is ‘right now’ for people around the world to sit up and acknowledge India as not just as a back-office destination for ‘Outsourced work’ but for Original Ideas and Creative Content. We are striving hard to join our peers and veterans from the Indian animation industry who are already making forays and creating this difference

The Mifa market & Annecy has bridged the distinct worlds of ‘animation content’ from around the globe. The result is a vibrant and fertile creativescape that nurtures and nourishes new ideas and cutting-edge collaborations. The futuristic Mifa/ Annecy showcase will inspire content-creators and new aspirants like us to step up and think ahead of the times to create content that will be trendsetting, relevant and contemporary when they are ready for the world.

We have two distinct projects – An original 3D Kids Animation Series titled “Ice-creams Vs. Cupcakes” – targeted at a global audience 6 years and above and Sahara-the Amazing Race – a 2d Animated Movie/Series pitch based on the ‘oft-ignored’ landscape of Sahara. targeted at the contemporary middle-easten citizen and the global diaspora. These are ideas borne out of thorough understanding of contemporary trends and extensive research backed by our proven experience we have garnered over the years in the challenging world of Advertising & Marketing.

We also bring to the table 12 years of experience working in Advertising & Trans-media  for leading MNCs from India, France & the US. Our Outsourced Creative Services portfolio includes Original content creation for the world, Integrated Marketing Communication campaigns, Animated TVCs, Training & Corporate films, Animation Series Co-production etc.”

“MIFA is increasingly becoming an indispensable fixture in the Animation Calendar for serious Business Owners and Animation Professionals alike.

Had visited the festival last year. The platform created by Anand and his team is commendable due to which it makes it easy for us to focus on our task in hand.

The primary focus of 7Mantle Studios, A Unit of ArtisArk Software Solutions Pvt. Ltd. is to cement existing relationships with Clients and Animation friends apart from exploring new Business possibilities.”

“ARTHA participated in MIFA and Annecy for the first time last year & we found it significant in strengthening our business relationships with professionals attending MIFA and creating an impact of our venture in international market.

We are looking forward to build relations and to serve our clients with our strength and expertise in high quality 2D & 3D Animation.”

“At this year’s Annecy, I will be taking along an animated feature film ‘Circle of Fire’; Directed by Arnab Chaudhuri, and also a bunch of other animated TV Series.

My directors film, Arjun-The Warrior Prince was in competition at Annecy 2013 and my film DELHI SAFARI was officially screened in 2012. I also have a few TV series that we are producing and will be carrying them too.

Our Distribution division will look at tying up with content owners and distributors to distribute their content in India territories.”

“Annecy is equivalent to the best Animation Festival in the World. It is a great place for both the creative and business sides of the Animation world and plays significant role in Creative Development as well as marketing and exposure to companies.

We will be focusing on making new friends and meeting old ones at MIFA and Annecy like always. It will also be a good platform for us to offer our Services to the Animation Producers and Studios who are seeking partnerships in strong production facilities.

We were a part of it last year too and it was a memorable experience!”

?”This is our very first visit to Annecy and it’s a pleasure to participate!

“Annecy is the oldest Animation Festival of the world and it is still considered to be the most prestigious platform of animation film showcase in this domain. I have been visiting Annecy for the past 5 years now and had been always a part of the Indian Animation Pavilion since its inception.

Apart from its pioneering significance on the map of world animation, it had been a key factor to my relation with the global animation fraternity. This is clearly the only event where people can build relations in true sense and where everybody is relaxed and ready to talk unlike other mega events where you meet a hundred in a day but don’t remember anyone’s name at the end of the day. Interestingly, apart from my global friends, I have bonded more with my Indian associates from the animation space which has led to the development of domestic business verticals. I believe there are a lot more companies who would agree with me.

MIFA has always been kind to me. I am always thrilled to be back there and meet with old friends from across the globe.

Our company focus had always been building relations than business. Business is inevitable and will eventually happen. We are more focused on having co production tie ups with production houses from different countries.

Honestly the Indian pavilion had never been materially flamboyant but it had always been the most vibrant, and probably has done the most business that I know of. For modest business entities like us, it’s the best that can happen, ‘smartest way to maximum exposure’.

I would really encourage budding animation houses from India to be a part of the event because I feel this is the gateway to world animation domain.

In a word, Annecy rocks!”

”We had taken part at MIFA for the very first time in 2013, as a participating member of Indian Animation Pavilion.

As a service studio capable of delivering end to end services and solutions, our primary objective of taking part in this fair was to meet up with production houses that were looking for outsourcing production to studios overseas for cost benefits without compromising the quality.

With excellent track record of having worked in European Market for Popular movie projects we went to Annecy with a lot of confidence and hope of meeting potential business partners. It provided us as a useful platform to meet many people from the industry across the world, but we realize that translation of those interactions into business is a long drawn process.

MIFA at Annecy provides an excellent platform for those in the business for meeting and interacting with people with different talents and ideas, connecting with the evolving trends in the creative space and above all to be among some of the most interesting people for three days”
