IICT and Wacom put creativity to the test with Doodle Dash at IGDC

Chennai is set to get doodling, with IICT and Wacom India bringing a live drawing contest to the India Game Developer Conference (IGDC) on 30 and 31 October. The challenge is simple: get a gaming character on screen before the clock runs out.

Hosted at the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) booth, Doodle Dash, a party game where the players draw the same word at the same time, will give gamers, artists, students and aspiring creators a chance to test their drawing skills using Wacom’s digital pen technology. Each round comes with a prompt and a time limit, with a twist thrown in to keep the competition lively.

There is more than bragging rights at stake. The winner will take home a Wacom Intuos Medium with bluetooth, a slim, wireless graphics and pen tablet designed for digital drawing, photo editing, sketching, and remote work or classroom annotation, while the runner-up gets a One by Wacom Medium, an entry-level, non-screen graphic pen tablet designed for digital drawing, sketching, photo editing, and note-taking on a computer. Third place comes with a Wacom Intuos Small, designed for those who are drawing, painting and photo editing. Participants will also receive IICT merchandise and goodie bags.

IICT is also offering 30 per cent scholarships on its two-year programmes, aimed at those looking to build careers in animation, visual effects, gaming, comics and extended reality (AVGC-XR).

IICT CEO Dr. Vishwas Deoskar shared, “Doodle Dash brings together everything that makes the AVGC-XR ecosystem exciting: creativity, technology, gaming and the freedom to experiment. Through our collaboration with Wacom at IGDC, we want to give young creators a chance to put their imagination to work, experience professional tools and see how their creative interests can translate into careers.”

Wacom India senior director Rajiv Malik stated, “Through Doodle Dash at IGDC, we are excited to give aspiring creators an opportunity to experience Wacom’s professional pen technology in a fun, engaging and competitive environment. Our collaboration with IICT reflects our shared commitment to nurturing India’s next generation of creative talent by connecting technology, education and industry. We hope this initiative inspires more young people to explore their creativity and pursue exciting careers across the gaming and wider AVGC-XR ecosystem.”
