At a recently held Ramayana pre-release event in Hyderabad, film actor and co-producer for the film, Yash addressed the audience and asked fans not to find VFX faults in the upcoming film. He also praised his co-producer Namit Malhotra to great lengths.
As fans wait with bated breath for the release of Ramayana this Diwali, Yash has a message for audiences. While addressing the audience at the film’s pre-release event in Hyderabad, he urged fans not to let minor VFX flaws cloud the bigger vision of the film. He asked fans to look beyond minute imperfections and stand by the film’s attempt to take Indian cinema to the world.
Yash said that losing visionaries like producer Namit Malhotra could set the Indian film industry back by years. He further requested audiences to watch the film with an open mind.
“One thing I will tell you. Please don’t try to find small faults in VFX, this, that. It will never happen again. If we lose people like him (Namit Malhotra) now, it will take more years. We will go back. So let’s see with an open mind,” said Yash, who plays Ravana in the film.
At the event, Yash also elaborated on Malhotra’s commitment to positioning Indian cinema on the global map. Describing his co-producer as ambitious, Yash said his dedication was a key factor that helped him cement his decision to collaborate with Malhotra.
Yash added, “Anybody can make a movie. Anybody can dream of making a film. But only a few people will have that kind of passion, dedication, determination and madness. As Indians, I am telling you, we need to protect this guy. It’s our responsibility.”
Recalling his conversations with Malhotra in Los Angeles, he mentioned that Malhotra was focused on wanting Indian cinema to achieve wider international recognition, regardless of his own success. “Every time I met him in LA, he always spoke about one thing: ‘We all are doing so much here. Indians have done so much. But we should do it for our Indian film industry. I am getting Oscars. But I am not happy. I want our industry to be placed in that level. That is the day I will be happy,” Yash expressed.
With visual effects helmed by Dneg, the company behind iconic movies such as The Odyssey, Dune, Interstellar, and Inception, under the production of filmmaker Malhotra and direction of Nitesh Tiwari, with music by Academy Award winners Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman, the movie stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman, and Ravie Dubey as Lakshmana. While the trailer introduces most of the principal characters, it notably does not reveal Sunny Deol’s first look as Lord Hanuman.
Ramayana is slated to release in two parts, with part two following in 2027.
