Toonheart Studios releases Gaming App ‘Hoppu’

Indie Gaming studio Toonheart, that is founded and spearheaded by Srikrishna Das, has released their latest game ‘Hoppu’, yesterday a free app on Blackberry World Store.

In 2012, this studio’ game ‘Tank ’em Up’ was exhibited at Indie Showcase at Casual Connect Singapore and also they were one of the ten finalists at BYOG (Build your own game) contest at last year’s Nasscom Game Developer Conference for ‘The Perfect World’- a game on environmental awareness.

Coming to Hoppu, it is a single player game, which is targeted at mass game players, let’s you play as a penguin, who, while traveling in an icy polar region has to collect Golden Fishes that are trickily placed.

Composed with 30 levels, Hoppu promises to fill you with levels of exponentially increasing difficulty, with challenging obstacles and relentless enemies like Angry Bears, Seals and whales that want to take you down.

Speaking to AnimationXpress.com about Hoppu, Srikrishna, says, “Hoppu is designed to frustrate 🙂 and brings back the fun of retro style games. It takes good skill, timing along with hand and eye co-ordination to finish the levels of this game. ”

“In less than 12 hours of launching Hoppu, it has been played around 1248 times by game players.”

The game is built using HTML5. Illustrator and GIMP are used for creating the artworks. Credits for this game go to Srikrishna  who spearheaded the game development including Level design and Art direction, Ramesh Manne as Programmer, K. Gauthama Buddha-  Artist, Nunes – Sound Track and SFX

Testing of Hoppu was initially done on web browsers, and then onto devices – Blackberry z10, z30, Android devices (S3, Nexus 5, Nexus 7, Samsung S3, Note, Sony Xperia .

Biggest challenge faced by Toonheart while creating this game was crafting challenging levels. “The level design was changed 3 times as we didn’t find the initial designs to be tough. The levels are also programmatic-ally generated. The programmer had to come up with an automated level creator, and the code determined difficulty depending on the level you are playing.”

Toonheart is planning to release Hoppu soon on Android, iOS and for PC Users.

Upcoming games from this studio are “Baka” (story of stupid frog), in which, you play as a frog, eating your way through 150 different types of food from cultures all over the world, battling 40 unique enemies as you make your way to the top of each level for a final show down with the boss, “Tank ‘Em Up” (retro style tank shooter) and a multiplayer title for PC users.
