Disney Junior introduces a new slate of fun originals

Disney Junior has announced a slate of new original shows that will debut through 2024, including two shorts and four series for the kids of age two-to-seven. The new titles unveiled are Hey A.J., Kindergarten: The Musical, Superkitties and RoboGobo.

The announcement was made at Disney Junior’s first Fun Fest on 29 April. Disney has not released the format and date of the new originals. Superkitties is a tale of four superhero kittens who try and hope to make their town a better place to live by fighting the bad guys. It is made in co-production with Silvergate Media.

For Hey A.J., Disney has collaborated with Surfing Giant Studios to present an adventure comedy which is inspired by former Super Bowl champion Martellus Bennett’s family. Kindergarten: The Musical revolves around the five-year-old Birdy as she faces everyday challenges and expresses her emotions through songs. The musical is a co-production between Disney Junior and LA-based Oddbot Entertainment.

The Kidscaster is producing RoboGobo with Brown Bag Films, which is based in Dublin. It is a story of pets adopted by an inventor kid who makes those pets superheroes with the help of robo-suits. Two short-form series were also announced from Me & Mickey and Winnie the Pooh (working title) along with the renewal of Alice’s Wonderland Bakery for the second season.

Earlier, Disney announced the premier of two seasons of Marvel’s Spidey and His Amazing Friends, Mickey Mouse Funhouse, Firebuds, Eureka and Puspstruction through 2024.
