Prime Focus to partner with Warner Bros. to convert ‘Clash of the Titans‘ to 3D 05 February 2010 04:45 PM

Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures have announced that Prime Focus will be their 3D partner on upcoming feature film, ‘Clash of the Titans‘. The film will be released worldwide in both 3D and 2D on April 2, 2010.
‘Clash of the Titans‘ will be converted to 3D in just 10 weeks using View-D, Prime Focus‘ revolutionary 2D-3D conversion process that enables filmmakers to create stereoscopic 3D content with unprecedented quality, speed and freedom. Chris Bond, President of Prime Focus Film VFX, North America, who heads the View-D team, said "We view this as a 10-week project, and have been in full swing for over a week now."

Prime Focus has recently contributed stereo 3D visual effects to ‘Avatar‘, which has received an Academy Award nomination for Outstanding Visual Effects. Other recent VFX projects include ‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon‘, ‘G.I.Joe: The Rise of Cobra‘ and ‘Tooth Fairy‘.
In making the announcement, Dan Fellman, President, Domestic Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures, said, “We are experienced and have been successful in the conversion of 2D to 3D going back to such hits as ‘The Polar Express,’ select scenes in ‘Superman Returns’ and the last two Harry Potter films.”
Fellman continued, “We are confident in the constantly evolving 3D technology, and the results for ‘Clash of the Titans’ will be presented onscreen with the highest-quality images available today. Based on our track record, we know that audiences are embracing the RealD and IMAX experiences, and we see many opportunities on our film slate to provide moviegoers with these great options at the multiplex.”

Additional titles on Warner Bros. Pictures’ 2010 film slate that will be released in 3D (in addition to 2D) include “Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore” (July), “Guardians of Ga’Hoole” (September) and “Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows, Part 1” (November).
