DQE‘s Tapaas Chakravarti nominated for E&Y‘s Entrepreneur of the Year Award 20 January 2010 06:55 PM

Ernst and Young recently announced the 18 finalists for its Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2009 India. Nominated amongst 18 illustrious professionals from different industry segments is DQE CEO & Chairman Tapaas Chakravarti. Since its inception, the award has felicitated over 75 outstanding Indian entrepreneurs for their vision, courage and leadership in building successful global businesses. Past recipients of the Entrepreneur of the Year Award in India include Tulsi Tanti (Suzlon), Kumar Mangalam Birla (Aditya Birla Group), Sunil Bharti Mittal (Bharti Enterprises), Ratan Naval Tata (Tata Group), N. R. Narayana Murthy (Infosys), Brijmohan Lall Munjal (Hero Group) and Mukesh D. Ambani (Reliance).
Speaking to AnimationXpress.com Tapaas Chakravarti shared, “It’s a great honor and surprise to be nominated for this prestigious award which in the past has been conferred on luminaries like Ratan Tata running mammoth organizations. It makes me feel all the sacrifices and hard work that I have put in to being an entrepreneur has finally paid off. This has made all the DQuites very happy and proud and there has been congratulations pouring in from 4000+ employees directly and indirectly and also our international partners. This is something that motivates me further to keep goalposts even more ahead.”

He further adds, “It is the clear vision and total conviction that what we are doing is right that has helped DQE grow to such heights. The overall winner from India will join an illustrious list of contemporaries from 50 countries and will be inducted into The World Entrepreneur of the Year Academy in Monte Carlo, Monaco. These winners also vie for the title of The World Entrepreneur of the Year Award, which is decided by an eminent global jury.
A six-member jury headed by former Securities and Exchange Board of India chairman M Damodaran will declare the winner of the award for 2009. The other jury members include FICCI Director-General Amit Mitra, HSBC India Group Manager and Country Head Naina Lal Kidwai, Accel Partners Managing Partner Neeraj Bharadwaj, The Oberoi Group chairman and Chief Executive Officer PRS Oberoi and Ashok Leyland Managing Director R Seshasayee.
