Xbox One Designer and Xbox Live founder quits Microsoft

Xbox Live founder and Xbox One designer Boyd Multerer has quit Microsoft to start something new. He was one of the most prolific people to have worked at Microsoft making online gaming an enjoyable process for gamers everywhere. He worked as a designer for both Xbox 360 and Xbox One. He was also the first person to be on Xbox Live.

He has stated on his Twitter page that he’s leaving “to do something new.” Nothing has been revealed about his new project but, after the launch of the Xbox One, Boyd went on leave and launched an interactive erotica site with his wife, so one can’t predict what Boyd’s plans are.

Boyd was hired in 1997 and has helped develop the XNA as the product manager. The program would help game creators make indie games for the Xbox One and was supposed to be the first open market place on a console. Boyd has been working for Microsoft for close to two decades and had various roles at the company, the last one being Director of Development for Xbox.

A number of high-ranking figures in Xbox have left the company in the last 18 months which include former Xbox boss Don Mattrick, former chief product officer Marc Whitten, Xbox Entertainment Studios executives Nancy Tellem and Jordan Levin, and Xbox One TV designer Ben Smith.
