Will we see Cyborg in the ‘Young Justice: Outsider’?

We get to know the goals of the light and how the characters of the Justice league plan to stop the team in the recent episodes of Young Justice but it also teases a new generation of heroes.

While Teen Titans were nowhere to be seen in the animated series so far, the episode Evolution and its follow up Triptych make it clear that more members of the fan-favourite superhero group could be coming soon.

Spoiler alert, during a scene that reminds us of the first season when the beginners are relaxing on the beach, Superboy is listening to a radio broadcast from Steve Lombard that talks about some prominent high school athletes, including a prodigal football wide receiver named Victor Stone.

For the uninitiated, Victor Stone is the civilian name of Cyborg, who has been a prominent member of the Justice League and the Teen Titans in other DC Comics continuities. To drive home the point, Lombard names him as a member of the All-Star Squadron among high school athletes, an allusion to the classic superhero team from vintage DC Comics.

It’s notable that Victor comes from Henry Heywood High School in Detroit, which is the civilian name for the Justice Society member Commander Steel, crystallising the DC Comics world of Earth-16.

In the episode Triptych, Simon Stagg attempts to coax a group of meta-humans and nick a mysterious device of Reach origin that’s known as a meta-human. However the heroes retrieve it, and Miss Martian and Superboy deliver the object to S.T.A.R. Labs in Detroit, also suggesting that Dr Stone will be able to find its purpose.

There is a high likelihood what they meant was Silas Stone, Victor’s father, considering a high school football player is unlikely to be an expert in alien tech for a secret organization.

The series also shows two characters arresting Simon Stagg who look a lot like Harvey Bullock and Renee Montoya, but we shall talk about it some other time.

We are hoping that we get to see Cyborg joining the team soon. The mid-season finale of Young Justice hits the DC Universe on 25 January 2019.
