Warner Bros. Goes Digital with ‘Blue Ribbon Content’

Warner Bros. has named its newly created short-format digital content division ‘Blue Ribbon Content’. The new banner, headed by Sam Register, will be responsible for developing and producing both animated and live-action series for digital platforms, and already has an interesting slate of titles lined up, which includes both DC Universe spinoffs and original concepts.

Blue Ribbon Content’s lineup includes:

Justice League: Gods and Monsters Chronicles: This new animated series from BTAS producers Bruce Timm and Alan Burnett features much darker versions of the JLA heroes. The series is set to debut on Machinima in 2015 and is based on the upcoming original animated movie Justice League: Gods & Monsters which is exec produced by Timm and co-produced by Burnett and will be released by WB Home Ent. later in 2015.

Batman: The Animated Series Experience: A joint venture by Blue Ribbon, DC and Otoy to create an immersive virtual-reality experience which will bring the Batcave to life with interactive, holographic video for VR displays. Otoy is collaborating with the hit show’s producer Bruce Timm on the narrative side of the experience. Coming to Samsung Galaxy Gear VR and Oculus Rift.

Untitled Mortal Kombat Series: The next generation of the hit fighting game franchise, to be released in association with the upcoming Mortal Kombat X videogame (14 April, 2015). Blue Ribbon and WB Interactive are collaborating on the series, which will bring back popular characters and introduce new ones.

Golden Revenge: This follows a pair of house pets, a cat and a dog, seeking revenge on their human owners who try to abandon them. Created by Tom Stern and Josh Gardner (Saul of the Mole Men, Gerhard Reinke’s Wanderlust) and produced by Conan O’Brien’s Conaco.

Critters: Based on the cult classic sci-fi movies and introducing a fresh batch of alien menace to the beleaguered planet. Teen Titans Go!‘s Michael Jelenic and Aaron Horvath are writing the series.

Additional projects include Reginald Hudlin’s live-action Static Shock series, an original horror-thriller from Akiva Goldsman titled Ouroboros, Sonali Patel’s vicious girl comedy Ginger Snaps, and original satire from Mike Tyson Mysteries’ Rachel Ramras, Larry Dorf and Hugh Davidson titled RejecTED; and Blue Ribbon’s premiere original Play It Again, Dick; which stars Ryan Hansen as himself as he tries to get his Veronica Mars character his own spinoff.
