Warner Bros. acquires Machinima in an undisclosed deal

Warner Bros. seems to be pushing its digital boundaries as the company has just announced their acquisition of Machinima, the hit video service which caters to the gamers.

Warner Bros. was already an investor in the company along with few others. Now that Warner Bros. has acquired the gaming and fandom-related company, Machinima will be absorbed in the Warner Bros. Digital Networks, which was launched in June in an attempt to take the company’s digital and over-the-top (OTT) video services forward.

In a statement, Warner Bros. Digital Networks, president, Craig Hunegs said, “Machinima also produces great, high-quality content for their community, and together we can create an even more compelling experience and do some really exciting things involving our key franchises. This acquisition is another meaningful move forward as Warner Bros. develops more direct relationships with our consumers.”

This would not be the first time that both the companies have associated; earlier Warner Bros. has made several online-video programming deals with Machinima, like ‘Mortal Kombat: Legacy’ and the ‘Justice League: Gods and Monsters Chronicles’.

“We’ll now be able to take full advantage of Warner Bros.’ intellectual property, sales and distribution, while still creating content for social and premium digital platforms that gamers and geeks love. Plus, we’ll be fully embedded and can help Warner Bros. continue their incredible digital marketing successes. It’s honestly a win-win,” said Machinima, CEO, Chad Gutstein.

The numbers of the deal are still kept under wraps and nothing has been revealed, only speculations.
