As a child, we all grew up watching Disney’s Mickey Mouse cartoon, but do you know the story about the person who created it, the master-mind that gave animation a new look? If not, then don’t worry my friends, Director Khoa Le (maker of Denial movie-2009) is helming the movie about this legend – Walt before Mickey, which is based on the book of the same name by Timothy S. Susanin, that covers the early years of Walt Disney’s career.
Thomas Ian Nicholas (American Pie) portrays Walt Disney and Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite) plays his brother Roy. The story of the film has been written by Arthur L. Bernstein, Diane Disney (foreword).
The film covers Walt’s career as a struggling animator in the 1920s with colleagues Hugh Harman played by Hunter Gomez, Rudy Ising by David Henrie, Friz Freleng byTaylor Gray, as well as distributors Margaret Winkler and Charles Mintz portrayed by Flora Bonfanti and Conor Dubin respectively.
The producers are currently seeking a theatrical distributor – though according to the film’s website, pre-orders are being accepted for a December 2014 DVD releases that also includes movie T-Shirt and poster.
