Viacom appoints Brendan Yam to lead the new international digital unit

Viacom International Media Networks announced Brendan Yam as the VP and general manager of the new unit, Viacom Digital Studios International (VDSI). The unit fill focus on creating, distributing and monetising digital content for Viacom’s flagship brand, including MTV, Nickelodeon, and Comedy Central.

“Viacom has prioritized reaching digital-first audiences, and with over 3.1 billion cumulative subscribers in more than 180 countries and territories, our international youth audience is key to delivering on Viacom’s goals,” said VIMN president and CEO David Lynn.

Yam will be reporting to Viacom International Media Networks’ (VIMN) SVP of strategy and business development, Katherine Liu and the Awesomeness veteran Kelly Day who was appointed as the president of Viacom Digital Studios (VDS) last year.

Yam has been with Viacom since 2005 and recently has served as VP of multiplatform for MTV and Comedy Central International. Here, he will also manage business development, including branded content, licensing deals and platform partnerships.

“I’m confident that with Brendan’s passion for and knowledge of the digital, mobile and social landscape he and his team will elevate our short-form business and drive engagement around the world,” Lynn added.

The new unit will create original digital series, topicals and complementary shorts with a pipeline including VIMN, VDS, Telefe and Porta dos Fundos.
