Ubisoft’s next Far Cry installment Far Cry Primal set in 10,000 BC

Starting out from a tropical forest in Far Cry, a failed African state in Far Cry 2, an abandoned Pacific island in Far Cry 3 and last installment took the series to fictional country of Kyrat in Himalayan region. The series is now travelling back in time with the new game Far Cry Primal which is set in 10,000 BC and revolves around the Stone Age hunter Takkar, who has to survive and fight against harsh conditions and rise to become the leader of the tribe.

Developed by Ubisoft Montreal with assistance from Toronto, Kiev and Shanghai studios, Takkar along with surviving and hunting will have to fight off packs of pre-historic animal like wooly mammoths, dire-wolves, and saber-toothed tigers. He has to deal with the wrath of hostile, warring tribes.

Ubisoft first started a livestream of a cave painting and touted that an exciting news was on the way, but long hours wait and nothing was seen apart from the cave painting zooming out and just revealing the entire cave unveiling different characters from the pre-historic era, finally revealing the name of the game.

Takkar will be voiced by Elias Toufexis, the actor who voiced Deus Ex: Human Revolution‘s protagonist Adam Jensen. Toufexis has regularly lent his voice to other Ubisoft games, including small parts in many of the Assassin’s Creed and Tom Clancy titles.

A Far Cry game set in the Stone Age era is a good idea completely going off the guns and other modern tools of destruction, with the bows and spears and the new game mechanics and achievements set in those era will give the franchise a new direction after an over whelming response from Pagan Min based Far Cry 4.

Far Cry Primal launches for PS4 and Xbox One on 23 February, 2016. A PC release will follow in March, 2016.
