Rumours and speculations about Tomb Raider’s third installment have already been doing rounds through the community. However, the developers or even the fans would not have expected the next title for Lara Croft’s action-adventure game to be leaked in such a bizarre manner.
If reports are to go by, reddit user Tripleh280 was travelling on the Montreal Subway and happened to get a glimpse of a person’s laptop, where he was working on a PowerPoint presentation which is titled, ‘Shadow of the Tomb Raider’. It took no time for enthusiasts to speculate that this was indeed the next Tomb Raider Title after Tomb Raider and Rise of the Tomb Raider. Nothing can be said on a concrete level yet as Square Enix is yet to respond or make a statement regarding the leak.
People also raised a concern about the alleged leak, that Tomb Raider was being developed by Crystal Dynamics, a studio in San Francisco. However, it is also being said that Eidos Montreal, the studio behind Thief and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is in fact working on the next Tomb Raider game.
Sources close to Kotaku have said that ‘Shadow of the Tomb Raider’ is indeed the next title in series.
This will not be the first time when an upcoming game has leaked in such a manner, earlier, Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag was leaked when someone saw a PowerPoint presentation of it, on a plane.
We’ll just have to wait for something official till we can get our hopes high.
