The Simpsons parts ways with Ned Flanders’ voice actor Harry Shearer

Harry Shearer the voice behind the popular character Ned Flanders, Mr. Burns and many more from the longest running animated show The Simpsons quit the show over contract dispute.

He has been part of the show for 25 years and tweeted his departure from the show stating that his signing up for the new season would have stopped him from doing other work. The actor quoted The Simpsons writer and producer James L. Brooks’ lawyer, who reportedly said that while the “show will go on, Harry will not be part of it.”

Renewed for two fresh seasons (27 and 28) by FOX, The Simpsons has been witnessing a constant dip in its viewers rating from what it was in its initial days, yet the brand is still minting money for the makers through merchandising and licensing.

With Harry leaving the show, it is to be seen what is to happen of the memorable characters like Ned Flanders, Mr. Burns, Bart’s nemesis Principal Skinner and other small characters from the show. The 71 year old actor has previously worked on the celebrated rock mockumentary This is Spinal Tap.
