The 87th Academy Awards reveals nominations

It’s that time of the year again when everyone is glued to their television sets to see if their favourite film – of the year gone by – has made the cut at the most respected and spoken about in the world of cinema, the Academy Awards (also called the Oscars).

The nominees for the ‘Best Animated Feature Film’ include: Big Hero 6, The Boxtrolls, How To Train Your Dragon 2, Song Of The Sea and The Tale Of The Princess Kaguya. It is certainly a little disheartening to see The Lego Movie failing to make the cut in this category, though the makers have something to celebrate and make them feel a little ‘awesome’ of being nominated in the ‘Original Song’ category for the melodious and catchy number ‘Everything is awesome!’.

The nominees in the race for the ‘Best Animated Short’ are also no small names, with the likes of: The Bigger Picture, The Dam Keeper, Feast, Me And My Moulton and A Single Life earning themselves a place to win top glory in the category.

The nominees for the ‘Best Visual Effects’ category were some of the biggest money spinners of 2014 as well. They are: Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, Guardians Of The Galaxy, Interstellar and X-Men: Days Of Future Past.

It would be really interesting to see who takes home the priced ‘golden statue’ on the night of the awards – 22 February, 2015. The awards night will be hosted by the witty Neil Patrick Harris.
