Supercell revenues sore to new heights

Riding on the success of popular titles like Clash of Clans, Boom Beach and Hay Day, Finnish mobile game giant Supercell’s earnings has seen a threefold rise in 2014 in its annual revenue.

Supercell reported a full-year revenue of $1.70 billion in 2014, up from $570 million in 2013. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization were $565 million, as against $267 million in 2013.

The company benefited in particular from successful localised marketing in important Chinese and Korean markets, which in the past have been difficult to enter for Western game developers, said Supercell co-founder and CEO Ilkka Paananen in a news conference.

Clash of Clans at one point of time was earning $ 645,000 per day which reflects majorly on the results this year.

SoftBank will receive a dividend payout of $170 million from the mobile game giant’s 2014 earnings against a 51.4 per cent shareholding it bought for $1.5 billion in October 2013.
