Star Movies plays home to Marvel superheroes this week

It’s a badass week for Star Movies, as it suits up for an all-out Marvel superhero bonanza week starting from today, 16 March 2015. Stay tuned as Star Movies will air a line-up of superhero flicks at the prime-time slot of 9:00 pm everyday building up for its pan India premier of Captain America – The Winter Soldier on 22 March 2015 (1:00 pm & 9:00 pm).

“We all need somebody to look up to, somebody to guide us and make us believe that there is strength hidden in all of us. At Star Movies we understand this feeling and want to inspire our viewers with a Marvel Festival showcasing some of the best superhero films Hollywood has produced. So, it’s time to live a larger than life, action packed week with Star Movies,” said a Star India spokesperson.

16 March – The Wolverine: Witness Hugh Jackman reprising his kickass clawed mutant role as ‘The Wolverine’ in the sixth installment of the X-Men series. Following the aftermath of X-Men 3 – The Last Stand, Logan a.k.a Wolverine travels to Japan and this time confronting not mutants but lethally trained ninja assassins while battling his own vulnerability. The movie is directed by James Mangold, who is also reportedly helming its sequel starring Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart among others.

17 March – The Amazing Spiderman: The 2012 reboot of the web-slinger starring Andrew Garfield as Spiderman retells the origin of Peter Parker a.k.a Spiderman being bit by a genetically advanced spider giving him spider-like powers. The plot also spills out some untold secrets about his parent’s mysterious death. Helmed by Marc Webb the movie also stars Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans and our home grown Irrfan Khan.

Post Sony Entertainment and Marvel Studios’ joint collaboration over the Spiderman franchise, Garfield will no longer be part of the Spidey project and the re-booted three part Spidey series will join the Marvel cinematic universe.

18 March – X-Men First Class: Starring James McAvoy as the young Professor Charles Xavier and Michael Fassbender as Magneto, the premise of this X-Men venture jogs back to 1962, where the United States government with the help of mutants face a malicious dictator, Sebastian Shaw who is determined to start world war III leading to human extinction.

19 March – The Incredible Hulk: Featuring Marvel ‘s big angry green monster, the Hulk. Edward Norton plays Bruce Banner, the scientist on the run from the US Government. While Bruce must find a cure for the Hulk within he must also fight the soldier who unleashes himself as a threat stronger and smarter than the green monster. Time for some Hulk Smassh!

20 March – Thor 2 – The Dark World: Starring Chris Hemsworth reprising his role as the Norse God of Thunder, Thor must protect his love interest Dr Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) and the world as we know it from an ancient Elf King Malekith, who seeks to destroy the universe using a weapon known as the Aether.

21 March – Hell Boy 2 – The Golden Army: As the conjured demon and defender of Earth from all dark forces, Hellboy must once again along with his team save the world from a rebellion of dark forces willing to unleash an infinite army of ancient golden mythical warriors. Helmed by Guillermo del Toro, Hellboy is the unsung Marvel hero you shouldn’t miss.

22 March – Captain America – The Winter Soldier: So it all boils down to the mega premier of the first Avenger, Captain America on the 22 March at 1:00 pm and 9:00 pm. Following the events of the Avengers (2012), Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) strives to fit in the modern society. Whilst at it he must also prepare himself to fight against the organisation he stood for especially when he confronts a new threat from his war days – The Winter Soldier. The sequel also stars Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Samuel L Jackson as S.H.I.E.L.D’s chief Nick Fury. And above all don’t forget to catch the short teaser clip soon after the end credits roll to get a sneak peak of Marvel’s next big screen outing!
