Sony Pictures’ ‘Surf’s Up 2: Wavemania’ teaser features WWE stars as voice cast

Sony Pictures Animation and WWE stars have joined hands to bring action into animation. Sony Pictures upcoming animated feature film Surf’s Up 2: Wavemania will witness the voices of a number of WWE stars.

With some serious waves creating tremors in the sea, Surf’s Up 2: Wavemania features the craze for surfing in a frenzy manner. A sequel to the 2007 animated film called Surf’s Up, Sony Pictures has now released the teaser for this sequel.

The protagonist penguin Cody Maverick seems to be constantly looking for a breathtaking challenge to dive into the ocean and surf his way quite impeccably. Along with his own friends, he teams up with the big wave riding crew known as The Hang 5.

The members of The Hang 5 are voiced by WWE superstars John Cena, The Undertaker, Triple H, Diva Paige and Mr. McMahon. All of them set out on their journey to a mysterious surf spot known as The Trenches to encounter the biggest waves in the world. However, with time Cody realises that the life he left behind might be more heroic than what any death-defying wave has to offer.

Genndy Tartakovsky’s protégé Henry Yu, who served as a story artist on Sym-Bionic Titan and both Hotel Transylvania films, is making his directorial debut with this film. The screenplay is being written by Abdul Williams (Lottery Ticket), and Hotel Transylvania 2 production manager Michelle Wong serves as producer. Vancouver’s Rainmaker Entertainment (Ratchet & Clank, Open Season: Scared Silly) is producing the animation.

Surf’s Up 2: Wavemania will be released by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment in early 2017.
