Sony Imageworks reveals animated character shots of ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’

We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important conflict has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that his greatest battle is just about to begin.

Sony Imageworks provided the visual effects on Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and the VFX house has just released a new explanatory video detailing the ‘Animated Character Shot Build’ for the final battle sequence between Electro and the friendly neighbourhood masked hero.

Director Marc Webb has specially requested that the physiques of Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield) remained grounded in reality. Imageworks kept that in mind, always making sure it accounted for gravity while Spidey was swinging through New York City, while also trying to incorporate famous poses that the character is known for in the comic books.

It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter has to confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realise that all of his enemies have one thing in common: Oscorp.

The video also takes viewers through the journey of how various body movements are captured performed by a stunt double, to perfectly replicate the movements on Spidey as he slings from building to building and into our hearts on the big screen.

Sony Imageworks has in the past delivered marvelous work on ‘Men In Black 3’, ‘Oz the Great and Powerful’ and ‘Green Lantern’

The next Spider-Man film will arrive 28 July, 2017. Rumor has it that Drew Goddard (Cabin In The Woods) will helm the project and it will be titled The Spectacular Spider-Man.
