Society for Animation in Delhi (SAID) is all set to organize an interactive meet-up on the May 26, 2012, 3 to 6 pm, at the Civil Service Officers’ Institute, KG Marg, New Delhi.

It is the first of its kind for animation production where animation Studios and animators will get to know each other face-to-face; a presentation on “Unfolding the Animation Eco-system in Delhi” will be made by the Society.

The views of the various stakeholders present will be sought on the steps necessary to put the mission in place, without dislocating its existing “systems”.

The objective of the meet is to get animators in and around Delhi to join hands for organizing, developing, balancing and sustaining the animation eco-system in this area, so that the animation industry here can look forward to pushing production (IPR), skills (talent, standards and best practices) and energy (quantity and productivity) to heights of world-class quality and quantity in the years ahead. The spotlight is on making business sense out of the passion of animation.

The event will commence with Kala Iyer, eminent Delhi filmmaker, and Secretary of the Society, who will introduce the society and the subject, and also be the moderator. Madan Pania, President of the Society, will make the presentation on “Unfolding the Animation Eco-system in Delhi”. Ranjan Singh, Vice-President will represent the voice of SAID during discussions. Speakers from eminent production houses and other stakeholders present will place their views.

Speaking to AnimationXpress.com, Madan Pania, President of the Society (SAID) said that, “The Society has tried to reach out to all animation production houses and studios in and around Delhi. Some organizations, to whom the animation industry in and around Delhi is of interest, including FICCI, Association of Mobile and Software Industry, Doordarshan, DAVP, etc. have also been invited as friends, philosophers and guides. The Society expects forty to fifty major participants to be present”.

“The Society expects to see an organized animation industry in and around Delhi, which is capable of world-class animation with original creativity (IPR) and in terms of quantity, quality and stature. It expects stakeholders like Government, production houses, ancillaries, user industry and market-demand to join hands to keep the passions of animation alive and kicking. The Society believes that animation transcends all barriers of caste, creed, sex, religion, language, place of birth, etc, etc. – familiar words from the Constitution of India.” Madan added.

The event is free, and entry is by invitation only. Animation Production Houses and Studios in and around Delhi interested in attending can e-mail here.

Society for Animation in Delhi (SAID) is a non-profit registered body of passionate animators who work voluntarily for the cause of animation and related arts. The Society has not sought any supporters, and is doing the meet-up on its own, voluntarily.
