Scarlet Johansson teases solo ‘Black Widow’ movie outing

Hosting the American late-night live television sketch comedy and variety show, Saturday Night Live (SNL) for the fourth time now, Scarlet Johansson did her fair share of gigs opening with the Mayweather – Pacquiao Cold Open, followed by one on Blazer and finally etched out a Black Widow solo movie teaser.

Let us break the obvious here, there has been no official word from Marvel on a Black Widow solo venture, as Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige anyway has other pressing issues to deal with (read planning Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe).

However we do hope Scarlet’s latest poke at the studio gives them an eye opener especially as Scarlet lays down the plot for them (we did want more to the budding romance of Hulk and Black Widow left incomplete in Age of Ultron). The sketch kicks off with the rhetorical question, ‘Does Marvel not know how to make a Superhero Girl Movie?’

Teasing a 2016 release, the parody Black Widow – Age of Me, has Scarlet reprises her Black Widow outfit but with klutzy, flowery heels and an added Pink jacket only to intern at the Fashion Weekly Magazine, possibly because S.H.I.E.L.D. has dissolved and Nick Fury is busy chomping away his noodles in her apartment. Things take a better turn for our Mavel super girl when she befriends and falls in love with a suited Mr. Ultron. (Sorry Hulk….)

The parody continues with Scarlet’s robo-romance with the maniacal machine until dear friend Captain America reminds her that the love of her life should know her favourite food – Ice creams. So there goes Ultron kicked right in the bin when he mechanically mutters, ‘Pizza’. But like all Marvel movies, this parody too sees the light of the day as our jolly-green monster Hulk steps in. We all know the Hulk has no clue how to woo the Black Widow, but this time, the green monster gets his act right when he pops up with a pair of ice-creams cones.

Now that’s all we needed for a Valentine release from Marvel, brewing up a rom-com supergirl flick! But hold your horses folks, Marvel haven’t totally ruled out Girl Superhero movies with Captain Marvel being listed in its MCU. Also with DC rolling out a solo Wonder Woman movie with Gal Godot, who knows, Marvel might just roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty with Black Widow. Stay tuned!
