Rudra Matsa Entertainment’s outsourcing sojourn

For the last one year Rudra Matsa has been associated with one of the world’s biggest toy manufacturing company, creating short webisodes for them. The short 2D animated series are a part of its vast merchandise base and includes young girls as the lead.

After dabbling with creation of IPs the company is now also exploring the service providing model, Rudra is happy about the association that has been built with the company, allowing his set-up to deliver 18 episodes for season one and triple the number in the following. “While working on service products for Indian broadcasters, we thought of doing some international work as well.” he reveals, on going the outsourcing way.

Unlike other deals which involve just a part of the entire process, such as storyboarding or pre-production, Rudra Matsa Entertainment is creating the entire animated videos with the help of just the script and recorded dialogues being provided.

“It’s been an exciting journey. It’s a great way to connect to the audience. It also makes sense because of the strong merchandising base that they have,” says Rudra. His 50 member team has currently delivered about 35 of the 52 videos from season two.

While a video takes about three weeks to create, seven to eight videos are in the pipeline at any point of time. The animation is done on Flash while painting is on Photoshop.

The deal comes to an end in July 2015, post which Rudra is hoping for a third season renewal or maybe a new series altogether. A total of 180 minutes have been delivered by Rudra’s company so far.

“The idea is that we want to cater to offering world class 2D animation services to producers and broadcasters both from India and abroad,” he ends. As of now Rudra has plans to expand into getting back into IP creation as well as merchandising.
