Replace your Game’s soundtrack with Spotify on PlayStation Music

Commercial music streaming service Spotify  has joined hands with Sony Network Entertainment International (SNEI) to provide an exclusive music experience. This will make it easier for gamers to enjoy their favourite tracks whilst playing their favourite games.

With over 30 million tracks, one could play their favourite songs in the game. It provides for an on-demand music for everyone. No need to pause the game, Spotify Connect lets you skip tracks or turn up the music using your mobile device or tablet, without ever having to interrupt your gaming experience.

“Music has always been a big part of gaming,” says Spotify chief product officer Gustav Söderström. “I remember playing computer games like Quake and Counter-Strike with my favourite tunes on in the background – taking the experience to a whole new level. With today’s launch, we’re bringing back that magic of gaming with music – all in a beautifully designed and smooth experience that looks great on the big screen.”

Spotify and SNEI have worked closely to build an entirely new music experience which doesn’t just sound awesome, but also looks great on your TV and handles smoothly using your DUALSHOCK wireless controller.

Spotify on PlayStation Music will roll out to all Spotify users on PS4 and PS3 today and will also allow to control music on a console through iOS or Android app which will give them the options for selecting playlists, skip songs, adjust volume and more.

“PlayStation Network is the premier destination for digital entertainment and we’re excited that millions of users around the world can now enjoy the most compelling music service on their PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 consoles,” said Sony Network Entertainment Internationation president John Kodera. “With Spotify as the foundation of PlayStation Music, we’ll continue to evolve the service to deliver the best entertainment experience that gamers have come to expect from PlayStation Network.”

A PlayStation Plus subscription is not required to use the app, and both Free and Premium accounts are supported. Two offers are available for new and existing users. Music Unlimited subscribers with accounts active as of 29 March will receive a free two-month Spotify Premium trial, while existing Spotify users who have not tried Spotify Premium will receive a one month free.
