Rajnikanth gives daughter’s ‘Kochadaiyaan’ screening at IFFI, 2014 a miss

Old hand superstar of the south, Rajinikanth was honoured with the Centenary Award for the Indian Film Personality of the Year at the 45th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) at Panaji Goa. The actor was visibly moved when he received the award from the hands of megastar Amitabh Bachchan and touched his feet. However, the next day, the southern actor was absent at the screening of his much hyped animation movie Kochadaiyaan at IFFI.

The organizers of the festival had announced earlier that the 63 year old actor will be present at the screening. However, a ministry official later announced that he would not be able to make it.

This film is the directorial debut of the legendary actor’s daughter Soundarya Rajinikanth. The film was released in May this year.

The screening was held at the Kala Academy in Panaji, which is one of the chosen venues of the festival. It was held on Friday.

The screening of the film was attended by the thirty year old director. She was also accompanied by her mother Latha who had lent her voice to this animated film.

The Tamil historical fiction action film also starred Bollywood actors Deepika Padukone and Jackie Shroff.
