Prime Focus Technologies hires Robert Morlano as senior VP

The technology arm of Prime Focus has added a new executive to its top rank. Prime Focus Technologies (PFT) has taken Robert Morlano as senior VP of post production. He will be in charge of all post production and sales operations out of the company’s New York office.

Prior to this, Robert was senior VP broadcast sales at Technicolor PostWorks for nine years. His addition to PFT comes at a time when it is looking at expanding its cloud based solutions.

“We are excited to welcome Rob to the team,” said Patrick Macdonald-King, president, North America. “This addition marks a new phase for PFT and is a great representation of the ways we are continuously challenging our staff to meet the demands of the changing media and entertainment industry. With Rob’s experience and guidance, PFT will continue to grow its offerings and expand on our recent success with 4K post-production and finishing.”

Robert will be furthering PFT’s client base in the reality, scripted, unscripted and documentary style verticals. In addition to sales, he will have oversight of all creative post services including show post, picture, audio, QC, mastering and finishing work. He will also help expand PFT’s DAX Production Workflow applications and Digital Dailies services.

“I’m honoured to be a part of this team and global collaboration,” said Robert. “PFT is a forward thinking company that is ahead of the curve in developing cloud-based solutions. I look forward to expanding my exposure in post and media, helping clients through their transitions to meet the challenges presented by the digital era.”

Meanwhile, as news of the sale of Prime Focus’ UK broadcast post division hit markets after its shareholder meeting, Prime Focus managing director, broadcast, UK and independent film Rowan Bray has reportedly left the company. She was involved in working closely with senior management for running the broadcast division while also overseeing the production department. About 330 people work in the UK post operation division.
