Pocket Games agrees to acquire social gaming platform Viximo

The New York based video game development and testing company Pocket Games announced that it has signed an agreement to acquire Viximo, a social gaming platform, for $3.5 million in Series B Preferred Stock. The transaction has been unanimously approved by both Boards of Directors and is expected to close in the first quarter of Pocket Games’ fiscal 2016.

Viximo is a platform which connects game developers to social networks through its write once, deploy everywhere platform. Once boarded to the Viximo, social games can be deployed across several social networks, providing accelerated integration and user reach. The Viximo toolset then enables developers to increase user engagement and monetization.

“We are thrilled that the Viximo platform is finding a good home at Pocket Games. We are confident that David and his talented team will enhance the platform and expand the customer base. As social gaming continues its unprecedented growth, Pocket Games is positioned to become a significant player,” said Viximo, president, Michael Pope.

Pocket Games recently opened their game development and testing centre in Pune which is focused on full-spectrum game testing and the acquisition and growth of innovative IP in the video game space. The company recently also released its RPG strategy game, Idol Hands which available on Steam.

Pocket Games, CEO, David Lovatt stated, “We are motivated to capitalize on the immediate synergies between Pocket Games and Viximo. We will be engaging our development resources and testing center in India to optimize the platform. Our focus will then shift to onboarding game developers and social networks across the world.

In an exclusive email interaction with AnimationXpress.com, David Lovatt revealed the way forward for Viximo after Pocket Games acquisition.

“Viximo will operate as an independent subsidiary of Pocket Games, but will have access to the excellent resources that Pocket Games has in its Indian Development and Testing Studios in Pune at God Speed Gaming Solutions. Viximo will be able to tap into the capital that Pocket Games has as well as the technical resources that are some of the best in the industry.”

Viximo has built-in social tools that are useful to developers, such as chat, achievements boards, translation tools and, crucially, its own currency.

“Viximo is the ‘secret sauce’ connecting the developers with social platforms like Facebook around the world. It is a single ‘ go-to’ solution that allows developers to integrate only the Viximo tech into their game, yet gain access to push their game to millions of users on tier-two platforms like Facebook,” he added.

A deal to acquire Viximo was entered into by Pocket Games last week and is likely to close some time in November 2015.
